Federal Firearms License (FFL)

When you buy a gun online federal law requires you to have the gun shipped to a dealer with a Federal Firearms License (FFL) so they can conduct the background check and legally transfer the gun to you.

How to Buy a Gun Online

Step 1: Locate a Dealer

Find an FFL dealer, such as a local gun shop. Confirm that they are willing to accept the firearm shipment and make sure you’re comfortable with any fees they may charge (some state and local jurisdictions will impose additional fees or paperwork that you have to complete as well and your local dealer will be able to give you the information you need so there are no surprises).

Step 2: Place Your Order

Head on over to our shop, make your selection, and place your order. If your local FFL dealer already provided you with a copy of their FFL, you can upload it when you order. If not, that’s okay – proceed to the next step…

Step 3: Request FFL

If your local dealer provided you with a copy of their FFL and you uploaded it at checkout, then congratulations – you’re all done! If not, that’s okay – many FFL dealers won’t be able to provide a copy of their FFL to customers. In that case, you can use our Transfer Request Form and they can send the FFL directly to us. You can either give them the printed sheet with your order info filled in, or you can simply show or email them the PDF along with your order info. Once they see the form and have the order info, they will be able to send us what we need so can legally and safely ship your firearm.

Step 4: Pick-up

When your chosen FFL dealer notifies you that your purchase has arrived you show up at their licensed location, fill out necessary forms, pass a background check, and pay the FFL their transfer fee (if applicable). At this point your new gun has been properly transferred.
